FDA Awards DRT Major Data Management Contract Requiring Health Science, Regulatory Review, and SharePoint Expertise
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) awarded DRT its mission critical data management contract to develop a SharePoint Online solution that accelerates decision-making by the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research’s (CDER) Product Jurisdiction Team (PJT). DRT won the competitive solicitation under the CIO-SP3 Government-Wide Acquisition Contract (GWAC).
Arlington, VA – October 4, 2021 – DRT Strategies, Inc. (DRT), an award-winning technology innovator and leading digital transformation partner to federal agencies for nearly 20 years, announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) awarded the company its data cataloging and management contract. Under the contract, the FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research’s (CDER) Product Jurisdiction Team (PJT) will leverage DRT’s deep data management, health science, regulatory review, and SharePoint application development expertise. DRT won the competitive solicitation under the CIO-SP3 Small Business Government-Wide Acquisition Contract (GWAC).
The FDA’s PJT currently has approximately ten (10) years of documented actions, historical records of decisions, assessments, and policy guidance – basically, data disparately archived in various inaccessible files including emails. The objective of FDA’s engagement with DRT is for the PJT to have easy and seamless access to this data. Thus, the FDA will improve work process efficiency by cataloging past decisions and correlating data in a way that informs and accelerates decision-making for repeat and new related inquiries.
“This contract win demonstrates our capabilities and past performance delivering meaningful solutions at the intersection of health science and technology,” commented Susan Kidd, CEO at DRT Strategies.
“Our FDA business and technology teams look forward to analyzing and organizing historical policy action data, creating an effective and efficient cataloging solution of past actions, and developing a successful SharePoint Online application. Our goal together with FDA, is to facilitate efficient, consistent, and predictable product designations and regulations going forward.”
About FDA’s CDER Product Jurisdiction Team
As part of FDA, the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) performs an essential public health task by making sure that safe and effective drugs are available to improve the health of people in the United States. CDER’s Product Jurisdiction Team (PJT) provides classification and jurisdiction decisions for the Center, determining whether a medicine and/or device is a “drug,” “product,” or “combination” of both. PJT also provides classification and jurisdiction assessments for offices across CDER and assessments outside of CDER, including to other FDA centers and industry. This expertise is essential to jurisdiction decisions and assessments, as well as part of policy and guidance development.
