CDC Awards DRT Strategies Five-Year, National Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Registry Support Contract

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) selects DRT Strategies as the prime contractor to provide technical, database, and user experience support to the National ALS Registry. The web registry collects and provides information regarding ALS, sometimes called Lou Gehrig’s disease, and facilitates research into the causes of and potential cures for the disease.

Arlington, VA – October 22, 2014 – DRT Strategies, Inc. (DRT), a leading provider of technology and management consulting services and solutions to federal agencies, the U.S. Navy, and enterprise clients in the technology and financial services sectors, announced today that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)/Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) awarded the company the five-year contract to provide technical, database, and user experience support for the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Registry located at (www.cdc.gov/als).

ATSDR’s ALS Registry collects and provides users with information regarding the disease and facilitates research for medical professionals and individual researchers.  Two key objectives of the engagement are to improve access to the registry portal for ALS patients and to simplify the experience for authorized researchers to access the registry’s data.  To this end, DRT together with CDC/ATSDR and drawing on its deep expertise in the Health IT space, will design, develop, and deploy web-based software applications, provide production, user, client, and technical support, and manage database enhancements.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), sometimes called Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a progressive disease that attacks the nerve cells that control voluntary movement. The National ALS Registry is a congressionally mandated registry for persons in the U.S. with ALS. It is the only population-based registry in the U.S. that collects information to help scientists learn more about who gets ALS and its causes.
