DOJ COPS Office Selects DRT to Optimize Financial Processes
DRT Strategies earns sole source contract to provide process efficiency solutions for managing grants dedicated to developing innovative policing strategies and creating or preserving law enforcement jobs across the country.
Arlington, Virginia – DRT Strategies, Inc. announced that the U.S. Department of Justice Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Office awarded the company the sole source contract to enhance and optimize mission critical business processes associated with obligating and managing hundreds of multi-million dollar grants to state, local, territory and tribal law enforcement agencies. The grants, funded in part by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, are to be used for deploying cutting-edge crime-fighting technologies, developing innovative policing strategies and hiring or maintaining thousands of law enforcement positions throughout the nation.
The DRT team, working directly with COPS Budget and Finance Officer and Finance Staff, provides its innovative, high efficiency operating approach to Grant Life Cycle Management – from grant obligation through post-award review and monitoring to program closeout. DRT’s specific services include providing COPS with the financial management and support services required to continue receiving unqualified audit opinions and effectively managing billions of dollars in grant program funding.
“COPS plays an important role advancing community policing and we are pleased to have DRT on site to assist us in financially managing our grants with efficiency, transparency and accountability,” commented Mary Hyland, COPS Acting Deputy Director for Management. “We are impressed with DRT’s analytical and technical capabilities, high energy, dedication to customer satisfaction and professional integrity.”
“DRT appreciates this opportunity to serve COPS and we are honored to be selected for this highly meaningful engagement,” stated Kerby Houff, Senior Manager at DRT Strategies, Inc. “This engagement further validates DRT’s capabilities to provide mission critical management consulting services to the federal government. We look forward to implementing creative and innovative solutions, which will unlock real value for COPS and the American public.”
About COPS
COPS is a component of the U.S. Department of Justice and was created as a result of the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994 to assist law enforcement agencies in enhancing public safety through the implementation of community policing strategies. COPS provides grants to state, local and tribal law enforcement agencies to hire and train community policing professionals, acquire and deploy cutting-edge crime-fighting technologies, and develop and test innovative policing strategies. COPS funding also provides training and technical assistance to advance community policing at all levels of law enforcement, from line officers to law enforcement executives, as well as others in public safety. Because community policing is inclusive, COPS training also reaches state and local government leaders and the citizens they serve. For more information, please visit www.cops.usdoj.gov.
