DRT Strategies Awarded Food and Drug Administration Information Technology Support and Program Management Support Services (ITSS) Contract
Five-year, $80 million contract provides program management and support services for FDA’s implementation of enterprise IT systems throughout all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle
Arlington, VA – October 5, 2010 – The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) awarded DRT Strategies, Inc. the information technology (IT) support and program management contract to provide program support services for the FDA’s IT systems throughout all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) as well as to provide strategic and tactical program and project management support. Under the five-year competitive 8(a) contract valued at $80 million, DRT will help the FDA support the agency’s various IT program and project management organizations.
The contract calls for a broad range of IT concept development, subject matter expertise, strategy, planning, and support services. DRT will support implementing FDA software releases and infrastructure upgrades, develop program-level technical standards and methods, recommend new tools and techniques, perform IT security planning and compliance, implement process and procedure improvements, establish the FDA’s program management infrastructure, perform quality assurance, and provide cost-benefit analysis of proposed systems.
“We look forward to working with DRT, and are pleased with the experience they bring to the FDA,” commented James Shugars, Acting Director, Division of Systems at FDA.
“Effective enterprise-wide program management requires high levels of coordination and cooperation among diverse work groups, which often have had little or no experience working together. This is our specialty,” said Susan Kidd, president at DRT Strategies. “We have proven the value of our services at several other agencies, and we look forward to employing our expertise on behalf of the FDA. We are proud to support the initiatives of the FDA to make their operations more effective for the American people.”
DRT has assembled a team with business partners who offer diversity and specific expertise in niche areas such as IT development, healthcare systems integration, information assurance, security, and privacy support. These partners include Washington Consulting, Inc., Evolvent Technologies, Inc., and MBL Technologies, a service disabled veteran owned small business (SDVOSB).
